Unfortunately, I purchased it to transfer voice files recorded at 32kbps to it and the sound quality is hit or miss. Most of the files recorded at this rate have a buzz to them such that no one would want to listen to them. I have five other mp3 players, two of which are made by Archos, that do not have this problem. Archos does not seem to publish the bitrate range for this device, but their support told me that it should be good for files down to 30kbps.
