(More customer reviews)This is a quality screen protector, but it definitely can be a pain to apply. I saw some other reviews expressing frustration over getting these things on their Archos without ruining them, so I wanted to share a few tips to getting them on with minimal issue:
1. Take a shower. Yes, seriously. You'll want to apply the screen protector in your bathroom immediately after a shower, since the humidity from the warm water keeps dust from hovering around and getting on your device while you're trying to apply it. Don't make it too humid, though, or condensation will form on the device. This tip is probably the best way to keep dust from re-settling on your Archos (or any device, really).
2. Use a microfiber cloth to clean the Archos before applying the protector. Microfiber is great because it cleans without leaving dust behind, and it doesn't scratch. Have this with you when you begin to apply the protector.
3. Have a can of condensed air handy (the kind you use for cleaning keyboards). The air will help to ensure that all little particles are off the screen when you begin to apply the protector.
4. Wear a short-sleeved shirt, so that it decreases the chances of getting lint or other fibers onto the protector, because the packaging attracts dust pretty quickly.
5. When you're ready to apply the protector, use one hand to peel back the plastic. For your other hand, make sure you're wearing the rubber finger gloves on your thumb and middle finger, and use only those to align the protector on the screen. You'll want to peel the plastic in very, very little increments. Start with the top left corner of the protector. Peel it back a bit, and line it up with the top left portion of the Archos' screen. Once you have the top left corner as straight and aligned as you can get it, peel the plastic toward the bottom left corner of the screen protector. Getting these two corners on first, without peeling the entire piece of plastic right away, is key. Once the two left corners are on the Archos and are good to go, double check to see if any dust has landed on the rest of the screen (it usually has). Use your canned air to quickly blow any extra dust or particles away before proceeding.
6. Then, to finish applying the protector, use one hand to apply pressure to the non-adhesive side of the protector, while the other hand slowly peels away the plastic, bit by bit. Doing it this way--very gradually and with a bit of pressure--will ensure that you get no bubbles. As you peel and lay sections of the protector, use the hand that's applying pressure to smooth the protector as you peel away the rest of it.
Basically, when you apply this--or really any--protector, you want to set it slowly in sections: start with peeling away the corners, set the corners, then gradually being to peel the rest. The biggest mistake you can make, really, is to peel the entire screen protector off right away and try to apply it all at once. Odds are, you'll be left with fingerprints, bubbles, dust, and a ruined screen protector. Lastly, make sure when you're setting the first two corners that you're happy with their placement; once this thing is on, don't even try to get it off to reposition it; it'll get full of dust, fingerprints, and will become ruined. Align it BEFORE you begin to set it.
Word of caution: I wouldn't suggest using any gloves with powder in them. The powder can easily transfer to the adhesive side of the screen protector, and once it's there, it's not coming out. Use the finger gloves they provide, and if you still feel like you need something on your other hand, use gloves that are purely plastic without any powder and whatnot.
Other comments on the packaging: I used the finger gloves, but I didn't really use the cloth they provide you with. I find that microfiber works much better on electronics' screens. It's a good screen protector, but it just takes a little preparation to get it on smoothly and successfully. When you do, though, you'll be happy. When I first ordered this item, it was the incorrect size, but Lexerd's customer service was extremely helpful, and they made sure I received the correct dimensions for the Archos 70 without any hassle. I definitely recommend it, especially for the Archos 70; it has a glossy touchscreen that sometimes makes it hard to use with fingers, but with the anti-glare protector, it gives it a more matte finish, which allows for smoother movement with fingers and capacitor styluses. I hope my instructions prove at least a bit helpful!
